iTunes is the Apple developed media player originally for the Macintosh operating system, but later expanded to support Microsoft’s Windows operating systems. One of the major features of iTunes is that it is required for the addition and removal of audio files on Apple’s iPod hardware. The other feature of iTunes, introduced in 2009 is the front-end interface to the iTunes Store. Through the iTunes Store, iPod owners and iTunes users are able to legally purchase and download music files for personal use.

Since the introduction of the iTunes Store, users have also been able to legally purchase movies and television programs.
