MMORPGs

Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games or MMORPGs as they are more commonly known have existed graphically since the early 1990’s with the release of Neverwinter Nights on America Online (AOL) in 1991[1]. The genre of online game wasn’t truly popularised until the release of Ultima Online in 1997, followed in 1999 by EverQuest and Asheron’s Call[2]. The most well known MMORPG of recent years is World of Warcraft, released in 2004 and claiming 11 million subscribers worldwide[3].
